Ingredients for Walnut Swirl Pastry:
– 1kg flour
– Yeast the size of a walnut
– 700 ml lukewarm water
– A pinch of salt
– 6-7 tablespoons of oil for the dough
– For the filling: 500g ground walnuts, 250g sugar, and some essences (vanilla, rum)
Walnut Swirl Pastry Preparation:
- Begin by making a simple dough, which you’ll let rise for about an hour, then divide it into 4 pieces and roll them out very thinly.
- Sprinkle the filling on each sheet, and then… roll them up.
- Brush the swirl pastries with beaten egg, then place them in a preheated oven for 35-40 minutes.
- It can be served warm or cold, sliced or torn, but definitely with some cold, cold rosé.
